Growth and prosperity at the cost of one’s own peril is regressive and damaging. Citizens are the true wealth of the nation and protection of their health and lives is the primary responsibility of those who govern. Additionally, each and every individual also has a key role to play in protecting self, fellow workers, and fellow citizens. So also, every organization has the responsibility and also legally bound to provide its employees a safe work place, to protect from all harm the people who render their services and play the role of partners in building the organization, all stake holders, and the community at large. Thus, multiple parties hold the stakes in the promotion of occupational health and safety and if not managed well entire communities could be affected on a long term basis. Education, empowerment, and enforcement have to work in tandem to accomplish this.
